News and opinion from LAN Solutions’ founder Mark Allison
The COVID-19 pandemic tossed all of us into an emotional tailspin. We couldn’t visit or hug one another, we couldn’t chat with neighbours at the local shops, we had to cancel long-distance trips to visit loved ones abroad. Although technology couldn’t solve all our woes, it could make some of those necessary restrictions seem a little less difficult. I like to call it the “technology of connection.”
At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, a new client came to us with an urgent problem: they were having major issues connecting teams remotely and were experiencing multiple malware/ransomware attacks. We jumped into action.
Back when I launched the company, “LAN” stood for “Local Area Network,” an acronym that’s had its day. Local is now global, and that’s opened up a world of opportunities in the way we and our clients work together.
I used to work for a company that, frankly, didn’t seem to care for its employees. We all worked hard, and did great work, but there was no real feeling of reward or appreciation, except for a paycheque. When I branched out on my own, I vowed my company would be different.
